Guest Speaker: Representative of the Alameda County Sheriff’s Department-Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Services Division.
Dedicated in 1996, the County’s state-of-the-art Emergency Operations Center (EOC) is coordinated and maintained by the Sheriff’s Office of Emergency Services. The Sheriff’s Office of Emergency Services maintains a 24-hour response capability that includes the mobilization of the following volunteer units: Air Squadron, Communications Team, Mounted Posse, Search and Rescue Unit, and two Underwater Recovery Units.
As the Law Enforcement Mutual Aid Coordinator for Region II, the Office of Emergency Services coordinates law enforcement mutual aid response throughout Region II. Region II extends from Monterey County to the Oregon border, and consists of the following counties: Del Norte, Humboldt, Mendocino, Lake, Sonoma, Napa, Solano, Marin, San Francisco, Contra Costa, San Mateo, Alameda, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, San Benito, and Monterey.The Office of Emergency Services is also the home of the Sheriff’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal Squad (Bomb Squad.) Members of the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Squad are sworn members of the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office.
